WHAT IS BAPTISM?
Baptism is an outward expression of an inward decision. It’s showing the world that you have decided to accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior and to follow Him for the rest of your life. It gives other followers of Jesus the opportunity to celebrate with you and keep you accountable with the amazing decision you have made.
Baptism doesn’t save a person. 1 Peter 3:21 says that it’s a “symbol and celebration of salvation.” When we are baptized, we are representing the same power that brought Jesus back from the grave and provided life for us all!
WHY SHOULD I BE BAPTIZED?
Jesus set the example for us to be baptized at the start of His ministry on earth (Matthew 3:13-17). When we are baptized, we are showing Jesus that we are obedient to Him, believe in Him, and will follow Him (1 John 2:3). Jesus was open about His love for us, and that gives us the opportunity to show others our love for Him. Baptism is showing everyone that you are turning away from a life of sin and instead turning to Jesus for change and to make us new!
If you have started following Jesus, believe He is your Lord and Savior, and have not yet been baptized, your next step is to follow in obedience and be baptized to show the world your love and commitment to Jesus!
